i'm quickly adapting to the atmosphere and becoming an urbanite. i can bike with the traffic pretty well, but today, i almost got hit by a big traveling bus. i've been visiting various vegetarian eateries that i googled. and i went to the big free library, which is very pretty and regal, and i signed up for a library card. i am also a member of tla video, a small chain video store that rents out mostly independent and foreign films. danika and i got that deal where you could have three out at a time at a flat price. i switched pharmacies from rockaway pharmacy to the cvs pharmacy that is a block and a half away from me.
my neighbors are nice. the guy above us is really old, but very sweet. he hardly comes out of his house and he doesn't have much teeth. the landlord lives below us, but he's away somewhere doing a promotional tour with his fiancee. there's an "acting" landlord right now living there, and he's friends with the actual landlord. the acting landlord is named craig. he djs and there's a recording studio down there, so there's always crazy music playing. we like to counter that with some of our own tunes. craig is also a jerk. the people to the right of us are cyclists. we met one of them. his name is brad and his wife is named kristie. the people directly across the street from us are young. one of them is really cute, but he wasn't home when we walked over to introduce ourselves. the people that we did meet were named "sven" and "brown". their dog is named "dozer." i liked brown's tattoos.
i've been biking at least four miles a day. i feel healthy about that, except for my ulcer which is getting worse. i will be going home for a few days this month to get a gastronectomy. its when they put a tube down your throat to look at your stomach, and decide on a course of action on how to make the hole in my stomach smaller. my doctor said i need to stop smoking, and not eat anything spicy or caffeine filled. that sucks cause i still have beadies left. i'm still going to smoke them.
i'm going to the first day of pointless fest next week on thursday to see world inferno and the special guest. i know who the special guest is and i'm excited for that. i'm also probably seeing "planes mistaken for stars" the week after next, and on the 28th, rainer maria is playing around here so i'm going to see them, too. then q and not is playing their last philly show on the 25th, i believe or the 15th. and i'm going to buy tickets for that soon, so i don't miss it. actually, all this depends on how much money i have left from tuition and shit. but i'm going to push the limits of my wallet. i don't have to eat everyday.
i start work next week on monday at the starbucks on south street. the people seem nice, but i don't enjoy working in general, and working for starbucks just goes against a lot of what i believe in. but its money, and its better than all the companies i have ever worked for. so i'm dealing with it.
i kinda want school to start. but shh
